Taste Notes

Nose: Intense and very precise notes of coffee, orange, plum, jam and truffles
Mouth: Bursts with caramel cream, chocolate and vanilla notes. It continues on with cinnamon, raisins, nutmeg, oak and molasses with smoky accents
Finish: Long and lingering with dark chocolate, clove and caramel

Plantation O.F.T.D. Rum is the take on that classic style of overproof rums. And not just Plantation's: to join him on the quest to get the blend and the proof just right, Alexandre Gabriel scoured rum joints around the world to find six grizzled old salts who knew which end of a rum bottle was which.

Together they came up with this blend of Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados rums, bottled at 69 percent alcohol.

O.F.T.D. officially stands for Old Fashioned Traditional Dark but if you ask any of the seven collaborators who were in the room when this blend was born, they’ll tell you it really stands for something else that was exclaimed when the winning rum was tasted.

About Plantation Rum

The first trace of rum distillation dates back to 1651 in Barbados. More than four centuries later Plantation strives to perfect the long-held traditions of the process. The goal is to grasp every clue about the rum-making culture. Each rum-producing country has its own unique terroir (local habitat) forged with traditions, proven techniques, character, and identity. Double Ageing, two climates, two varieties of oak. Aged in bourbon casks in a tropical climate, where the Angels’ part is high. "One nurtures a rum as one nurtures a child,” explains Alexandre Gabriel on the care devoted to the rums of Plantation. With the Raffia Sleeve in the bottle as a tribute to the history of rum.

About Rum

From pirate life on the open sea to Caribbean island paradises, perhaps no other spirit evokes such a romantic history as Rum. Made through fermentation and distillation of molasses or the fresh-pressed juice of sugar cane, Rums range from 20% to over 70% alcohol and come in a variety of tones from clear to dark. Highest quality Rums are generally produced in pot stills and aged in wood, while less expensive Clear or “White” Rums are produced in column stills and bottled without barrel aging.
